American Presidential Candidate John McCain's Spiritual Guide Wants Islam Destroyed

A poll found McCain to be the best commander in chief amongst the three US candidates vying for presidency. So if McCain were to become the next US President what views would shape his attitudes to the Islamic world. Perhaps the answer lies with Reverend Rod Parsley who was conferred the title of "spiritual guide" by none other than McCain himself at a campaign rally in Cincinnati.

Rod Parsley is leader of World Harvest Church, a 12,000 member megachurch in Columbus, Ohio. In 2005, Rod Parsley sketched his views about America’s intention in the world and Islam in a book called “Silent No More.”

Reverend Parsley regularly spews venom against Islam and in the same books, in a chapter titled Islam: The Deception of Allah, he writes: "I cannot tell you how important it is that we understand the true nature of Islam, that we see it for what it really is. The fact is that America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed, and I believe September 11, 2001, was a generational call to arms that we can no longer ignore."

In the same chapter Parsley speaks of Allah as a “demon spirit” and urges "war between Islam and Christian civilization". There is no difference between violent Islamist extremists and moderate Muslims, he argues.

“I cannot tell you how important it is that we understand the true nature of Islam, that we see it for what it really is,” he writes. “In fact, I will tell you this: I do not believe our country can truly fulfill its divine purpose until we understand our historical conflict with Islam.

Parsley said Islam was a “demon spirit” and 9/11 was the call to wipe them out for good.

Bush’s spiritual guide Pat Robertson espoused similar views.
